Why won’t the Texas Rangers have any players in Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game?
Despite pitcher Jacob deGrom being selected for the 2025 MLB All-Star game, the Texas Rangers won’t have any active players in the Midsummer Classic.
The Rangers’ only selection was deGrom, who will sit out the game after last pitching on Saturday in the team’s 5-4 loss to the Houston Astros.
On Friday, the MLB announced that DeGrom was replaced on the roster by Kansas City Royals pitcher Carlos Estevez, making his second all-star appearance.
This year’s all-star selection was the first for deGrom since making it as a member of the New York Mets in the 2021 season.
In his first full season since recovering from Tommy John surgery, deGrom has regained his top form, going 9-2 with a 2.39 ERA and 113 strikeouts against only 24 walks. DeGrom is tied for eighth in wins in the Majors and has the fourth-lowest ERA.
Fans still looking to tune into the All-Star Game can catch the league’s top players square off at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Truist Park, and the game will air on FOX.
