Texas Rangers slugger Adolis Garcia exits Game 3 of the World Series in the eighth inning
Texas Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia left Game 3 of the World Series with left-side tightness after batting in the top of the eighth inning.
Garcia appeared to be injured at the end of his at-bat when he flied out to center field and held his side and grimaced after the at-bat.
This is not Garcia’s first injury of the year, the Rangers slugger was placed on the injury list on Sept. 8 with a right patellar tendon strain. The injury is what prompted Evan Carter’s call-up to the Majors.
Garcia has been perhaps the Rangers best player throughout the postseason setting a new MLB record for RBIs in a single postseason run and winning ALCS MVP against the Houston Astros.
Garica is the second Texas Rangers player to leave game 3 with an injury after starting pitcher Max Scherzer left the game with a back injury in the second inning.
Garcia was replaced in right field by Travis Jankowski.
After the game Rangers manager Bruce Bochy provided an update on Garcia’s injury saying the team would know more tomorrow.
“ [Adolis] will get some diagnostics done, see where he’s at,” said Bochy, “Left side, tightness, we’re being optimistic there but we’ll know more tomorrow.”
If Garcia can’t play the rest of the Series, the Rangers will likely rely on Robbie Grossman or Jankowski to start.
