ALCS Game 4: Scoring plays, videos & more. Astros beat Rangers, 10-3

The Houston Astros will look to even the best-of-seven American League Championship Series at two games each with a win on Thursday night at Globe Life Field.

The Rangers will start left-handed pitcher Andrew Heaney (10-6, 4.25) in Game 4, while the Astros will counter with right-handed pitcher Jose Urquidy (3-3, 5.29).

Quiet ninth

Neither team scored in the ninth. ASTROS WIN 10-3, second striaght win at Globe Life Field to tie the series 2-2. Game 5 is on Friday afternoon.

Altuve doubles, scores

Jose Altuve led off the eighth with a long drive off the left field fence for a double. The hit was originally called a home run, but it was over-ruled by replay. He scored the Astros’ 10th run on Yordan Alvarez’ third RBI of the game. Astros lead 10-3.

The Rangers get a Corey Seager single in the bottom of the eighth, but do not threaten.

McCormick homers, extends Astros lead

Chas McCormick hit a two-run home run to push Houston’s lead to 9-3 in the seventh inning.

Quiet middle innings

Although the Rangers threatened in the fifth, neither team scored in the middle innings.

Astros bounce back

Houston didn’t waste much time braking the tie. They quickly loaded the bases on two walks and a single off Dane Dunning. Then, Alex Bregman struck out for the first out. Manager Bruce Bochy then brought in Cody Bradford to face Yordan Alvarez. who hits a sacrifice fly to center for a 4-3 Astros lead, then Jose Abreu unloads a three-run homer for a 7-3 Astros lead.

The Rangers then go in order in the bottom of the fourth as reliever Hunter Brown quickly disposes of them.

Seager homer ties it, 3-3

Corey Seager snapped out of a 2-for-14 ALCS slump with a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the third inning to tie the game 3-3.

Rangers pull within 3-2

Adolis Garcia smacks a solo home run inside the left field foul pole and Josh Jung hits a sacrifice fly as the Rangers score twice in the second inning. Astros lead 3-2 after two.

Astros take lead in first

Texas starting pitcher Andrew Heaney runs into trouble quickly. Jose Altuve opened the game with a double, advanced to third on a single by Maurico Dubon. Then Alex Bregman smacked a two-run triple to right-center and the Astros have a 2-0 lead. Three batters, no outs.

Yordan Alvarez then singles to center, scoring Bregmaan with the third Astros run. 10 pitches into the game, Houston leads 3-0 off Andrew Heaney. After getting two outs, Heaney issues a walk and Rangers manager Bruce Bochy removes Heaney from game. Reliever Dane Dunning allows an infield hit to load the bases. before Martin Maldonado strikes out. ASTROS 3, RANGERS 0

Astros starter Jose Urquidy then retires the Rangers in order in the first.

The roof debate

The Globe Life Field roof will be open for Game 4. Houston manager Dusty Baker doesn’t understand as he was told it would be closed for all games.
