It’s the worst seat in Globe Life Field, but this lifelong Rangers fan says the view is worth it
Craig Hamby, 63, hopes to see the Texas Rangers win the World Series before he dies.
For now, he must settle for watch them through the grate of Globe Life Field’s left field flag pole during Game 4 of the American League Championship series between his beloved team and the visiting Houston Astros.
Hamby paid $200 to sit in the front row of section 142 for Thursday’s Game 4 of the best-of-seven series. While he can peer through the grate, his view is blocked by an advertisement for Louisiana Hot Sauce.
“It said they were obstructed, but I wasn’t paying attention,” he said minutes before the first pitch.
It’s worth it to Hamby because the Rangers are finally exciting this year. After six consecutive losing seasons, the Rangers are in the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
Hamby’s worst experience at a Rangers game was in 2011. He was on hand in St. Louis as the Rangers came within one strike of winning their first World Series in franchise history.
Sitting behind a foul pole won’t be as heartbreaking as that, he said.
