Tiger Woods is back. We saw it … and heard it.

Woods is tied for 10th at the Master’s after shooting a 1-under 71 on the first day at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia.

To underline how competitive Woods appears to be this weekend, a hot mic on ESPN’s telecast caught him cursing at his ball after it hit a slope on the green and started trailing away from the hole. “Oh, [expletive] off,” Woods said.

It had been 508 days since Woods last played in a tournament after he major car wreck in February 2021 left him seriously injured and doctors considering amputation of one of his legs.

Reaction to Woods’ first round on social media came from a broad range of sports fans, all of them expressing dismay at the comeback.

Woods shot under par in Masters’ opening round for the 11th time. He finished in the top 10 in nine of those previous first rounds. He has won the Masters five times.
