‘It’s on! Doubt this guy at your own peril.’ Reaction to Tiger Woods’ return to Masters
Tiger Woods has all but made it official. And golf fans are freaking out.
The golfing legend told reporters Tuesday that he expects to play when the Masters tournament in Augusta, Georgia, tees off Thursday morning.
It will be Woods’ first tournament since he was involved in a catastrophic one-car accident in Southern California that almost forced doctors to amputate one of his legs. That was almost 14 months ago and many wondered if Woods would ever again play professionally … or even walk again.
His announcement after a practice round Tuesday in Augusta has golf fans frothing with excitement over what many would argue will be one of the all-time comebacks in sports history. Not just in golf, but all of sports.
“Doubt this guy at your own peril. He’s on the hunt for majors,” posted by a Tiger Woods fan account on Twitter.
Woods has won the Masters five times, including the last in 2019, which was already considered a massive comeback from severe back issues that had sidelined his career.
Woods’ plans to play has, of course, altered the gambling landscape for the Masters. He’s the most-best golfer to win the Masters, to finish in the top 5, top 20, and to make or miss the cut, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
Currently, Woods has even odds to make the cut and -135 to miss the cut. The line is at -185 on a top 40 finish for the 46-year-old Woods.
