‘Don’t drink and drive.’ Boxer Errol Spence Jr. pleads guilty to DWI after 2019 crash
Boxer Errol Spence Jr. pleaded guilty to DWI for a 2019 one-car crash in which he was driving in Dallas.
Spence, 32, crashed his Ferrari at a high rate of speed driving on South Riverfront Boulevard on Oct. 10, 2019.
The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office says Spence entered the plea last week. He was sentenced to three days in jail but was given credit for time served, according to multiple reports.
“Don’t drink and drive,” Spence said in a released statement. “Not one drink. It’s not worth it.”
Spence Jr. escaped the horrific crash with no serious injuries despite being ejected from the car as it flipped multiple times.
“I was hanging out and having some drinks with some friends and ended up wrecking my car and nearly killing myself,” Spence Jr. said of the crash following his plea. “Fortunately, no one else was involved in the accident and I am most grateful for that.”
