Top 5 high school football games to watch around Dallas-Fort Worth in Week 8/Week 4

VOTE FOR WEEK 8/WEEK 4 FOOTBALL WINNERS

After a month-long delay, Class 6A and 5A schools, and TAPPS have begun playing football games. There are a ton of heavyweight matches to watch in Week 8/Week 4 of the season.

We dwindled down the candidates to these 5 best games in DFW:

1. FW All Saints (1-0) at Nolan Catholic (2-0)

7 p.m. Friday

One of the best high school football rivalries in Texas as the Saints and Vikings battle it out for the best in Fort Worth. The game features a load of Division 1 talent, led by All Saints’ linemen Tommy and James Brockermeyer (Alabama commits) and Nolan running back Emeka Megwa (4-star, 34 offers).

All Saints hasn’t played since Sept. 25 as the team had to quarantine. The Saints beat Azle 70-50 as 3-star RB Montaye Dawson (SMU) rushed for 359 yards. Brant Ahlfinger added 193 yards rushing.

Nolan has wins over Midland Christian (38-21) and Plano Prestonwood (42-28).

It could be a running game with Dawson and Megwa, but both teams also feature two quarterback commits in All Saints’ Hampton Fay (Michigan State) and Nolan’s Jimmy Taylor (Cornell).

Nolan has won the last two meetings, 42-21 and 31-24. All Saints won the three meetings prior.

PREDICTION: All Saints 56, Nolan Catholic 45

2. Cedar Hill (1-0) at Aledo (2-0)

7 p.m. Friday

A rescheduled game as Cedar Hill was on a bye and Aledo was set to play district opponent Waco University, which canceled due to COVID-19.

Aledo, ranked No. 2 in the 5A Division 2 state rankings, has wins over Weatherford (70-7) and Frisco Lone Star (34-32). The Bearcats are averaging 476 yards per game.

4-star LSU commit JoJo Earle is averaging 19 yards per catch and has accounted for five touchdowns.

Cedar Hill, No. 11 in 6A, beat Arlington 28-21 on Sept. 25. 4-star Tennessee commit Kaidon Salter threw 20 of 33 for 261 yards and scored two touchdowns. Senior RB Kevin Young Jr. rushed for 73 yards and two TDs.

PREDICTION: Aledo 42, Cedar Hill 35

3. Arlington (2-1) vs. Arlington Martin (2-1)

7 p.m. Friday (Globe Life Park)

It’s Arlington (No. 24 in 6A) against Martin (No. 25 in 6A) to open up play in District 8-6A.

The Arlington Colts are averaging nearly 40 points per game while the defense is allowing 19 points per game. They are coming off a 49-27 win over Fossil Ridge last week. Rodney Talton II accounted for five TDs.

The Martin Warriors, who are coming off a 43-28 win over Temple, are outscoring opponents by an average of 42-16. 3-star Army commit Zach Mundell has accounted for 508 yards and six TDs this season.

Martin won last year, 21-3. Arlington leads the all-time series 21-14-1, but the Warriors have won seven of the past eight meetings.

PREDICTION: Martin 35, Arlington 28

4. Highland Park (1-0) vs. Rockwall (3-0)

7:30 p.m. Friday (Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium)

Rockwall is coming off an incredible come-from-behind win over Southlake Carroll 44-42 to improve to 3-0 for the first time since 2014. Braedyn Locke threw 30 of 45 for 349 yards and three TDs, and three receivers had at least 80 yards and a TD.

In three games, Rockwall (No. 12 in 6A) is averaging 54 points and 555 yards per game.

After taking the first two weeks off because of COVID-19, Highland Park (No. 2 in 5A D1) kicked off the season with a 42-36 road victory over Coppell.

HP has won the last two meetings while Rockwall won in 2017. HP has edged out Rockwall 164-154 in those games.

PREDICTION: Rockwall 45, Highland Park 38

5. Cedar Hill Trinity (5-2) at DeSoto (1-0)

7 p.m. Friday

The Tigers, playing an independent schedule this season after a long relationship with TAPPS ended, have only played two Texas teams Malakoff (56-32) and San Antonio Cornerstone (40-28).

The Tigers are coming off back-to-back wins over Robinson (Little Rock) and Gadsden County (Havana, Florida).

DeSoto, No. 6 in 6A, beat Converse Judson 37-0 on Oct. 2. Its game last week was canceled by Prosper. QBs Samari Collier and Matthew Allen combined for 375 yards passing on 21 of 38 completions and two TDs. Jaedon Wilson and Jerand Bradley combined for 15 catches and 254 yards against Judson.

PREDICTION: DeSoto 42, Cedar Hill Trinity 35
