After a month-long delay, Class 6A and 5A schools have begun playing football games. There are a ton of heavyweight matches to watch in Week 7/Week 3 of the season.

We dwindled down the candidates to these 5 best games in DFW:

1. IMG Academy (4-0) vs. Duncanville (1-0)

Noon Saturday, Globe Life Park (Arlington)

Put your boxing gloves on for this heavyweight match between two of the nation’s best teams.

It’s Duncanville, the top-ranked team in Texas and No. 6 in the country. The Panthers are back-to-back Class 6A Division 1 state runner-ups and are 1-0 after opening the season with a 41-3 win over South Oak Cliff.

IMG (Florida) already has four games under its belt and the No. 1 ranked team in the nation by MaxPreps. It is outscoring opponents 194-42. IMG is averaging 420 yards per game.

Overall, IMG has five 2021s in the Top 50, eight in the 2022 Top 50 and two in the 2023 Top 20.

Duncanville isn’t new to playing out-of-state opponents. The Panthers beat St. John’s College (Washington, D.C.) last season, 35-14. IMG last played a Texas school during a 2015 win over DeSoto.

PREDICTION: IMG 29, Duncanville 24

2. Allen (2-0) at Cedar Hill (1-0)

7:30 p.m. Friday

No. 12 Cedar Hill hosts No. 5 Allen this week with both coming off wins. The Longhorns beat Arlington 28-21 and the Eagles beat Humble Atascocita 52-27.

4-star Tennessee commit Kaidon Salter led Cedar Hill to victory with 258 yards passing, 50 yards rushing and two total touchdowns.

Through two games, the Eagles are averaging 50.5 points.

PREDICTION: Cedar Hill 38, Allen 34

3. Southlake Carroll (1-0) vs. Rockwall (2-0)

7 p.m. Thursday, Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium (Rockwall)

It’s a matchup of two top quarterbacks in the state in 5-star Texas commit Quinn Ewers (Carroll) and 3-star Braedyn Locke (Rockwall).

It also features two more top 6A teams and two of the most explosive offenses in the state.

No. 7 Carroll put up 72 points and over 600 yards last week against Rockwall-Heath. Ewers threw for 388 yards and five TDs while sophomore running back Owen Allen rushed for 218 yards and four TDs.

But the Dragons will be without star receiver Brady Boyd, who suffered a wrist injury late in the game. He had three TD catches and a career-high 211 yards.

No. 13 Rockwall has put up 59 and 60 points in back-to-back weeks. Locke is averaging 325 yards passing and four TDs per game. Overall, the Yellowjackets are averaging nearly 550 yards per contest.

PREDICTION: Carroll 56, Rockwall 45

4. Coppell (2-0) at Highland Park (0-0)

7:30 p.m. Friday

It’s the long awaited season debut of the Highland Park Scots, who had to call off their first two games due to COVID-19.

The Scots are led by 3-star QB Brayden Schager, who is committed to Hawaii. The senior backed up Oklahoma freshman Chandler Morris and threw for 473 yards and six TDs last season.

The Cowboys have wins over Mesquite (36-21) and Sachse (42-35) to begin the season.
