Top 5 high school football games to watch around Dallas-Fort Worth in Week 6/Week 2
After a month-long delay, Class 6A and 5A schools have begun playing football games. There are a ton of heavyweight matches to watch in Week 6/Week 2 of the season.
We dwindled down the candidates to these 5 best games in DFW:
1. Denton Ryan (1-0) vs. Denton Guyer (1-0)
7 p.m. Friday, C.H. Collins Stadium
Ryan, which is the No. 1 team in the state in Class 5A Division 1, beat Arlington Martin, 47-24, in the season opener.
Guyer, No. 5 in Class 6A, beat Hebron, 56-33.
It’s the first meeting since 2015. Ryan leads the all-time series 4-3.
The game features a ton of Division 1 talent. Guyer is led by 4-star Texas A&M commit Eli Stowers, who threw for 3,000 yards and 36 touchdowns as the Wildcats reached the state title game in 2019.
The Raiders showcase the second- and third-ranked athletes in the nation for the Class of 2021 in Texas commits Ja’Tavion Sanders and Billy Bowman Jr.
Sanders had a terrific season debut at wide receiver and defensive end. He had seven catches, 121 yards and two TDs and also returned an interception 66 yards for another score.

2. Cedar Hill (0-0) vs. Arlington (1-0)
7 p.m. Friday, Globe Life Park
The next two games feature teams in the Class 6A state rankings. First Cedar Hill begins its season against the Colts, who beat Mansfield in the opener, 37-7.
Against Mansfield, Arlington rushed for 211 yards. Senior backfield duo of running back B.J. Rogers and quarterback Kris Sims combined for 305 yards of offense on 29 plays (10.5 yards per play).
Dave Campbell’s ranks Arlington No. 22, rising two spots. Cedar Hill is No. 15.
The Longhorns averaged 43.4 points in 12 games last season. 4-star QB Kaidon Salter, committed to Tennessee, threw for 2,550 yards and 28 TDs.

3. Prosper (1-0) vs. Euless Trinity (1-0)
7 p.m. Thursday, Pennington Field
Prosper, No. 20 in Class 6A, beat Plano Prestonwood, 27-17, in the opener.
Trinity, No. 21, beat Arlington Lamar, 35-28.
Ollie Gordon and Valentino Foni combined for 429 yards rushing for Trinity in Week 1.
PREDICTION: Trinity 41, Prosper 28
4. Frisco Lone Star (0-1) at Aledo (1-0)
7:30 p.m. Friday
Lone Star dropped to No. 7 in the 5A D1 rankings after an upset loss, 34-31, against North Forney. Aledo is No. 2 in 5A D2 after a 70-7 victory over Weatherford.
The Bearcats showcased a sophomore QB in Brant Hayden, who shined in his debut (271 yards passing, 3 TDs). 4-star LSU commit JoJo Earle had three scores and nearly 200 yards of total offense.
The Rangers are led by 3-star QB Garret Rangel, the No. 17 ranked pro-style QB in the country in 2022.
It’s Aledo’s home opener. The school will place a plaque in the press box for the late Tony Eierdam, The Community News sports editor who died on Sept. 3.
PREDICTION: Aledo 48, Lone Star 35
5. Rockwall-Heath (1-0) vs. Southlake Carroll (0-0)
7 p.m. Friday, Dragon Stadium
Heath opened the season by dropping 72 points on Lewisville (72-52) while Carroll will start its season this week.
The Dragons scrimmaged against DeSoto last week.
Heath QB Josh Hoover threw for 266 yards on 20 of 26 passing and four TDs while Zach Evans rushed for 137 yards and a score. Hoover completed a pass to eight different receivers.
The Dragons are 26-2 with two trips to the state quarterfinals during the past two seasons with Riley Dodge.
They have the top recruit in the country in 5-star junior QB and Texas commit Quinn Ewers, who threw for 4,000 yards and 45 TDs a season ago.
