Dallas-Fort Worth high school football winners in Week 1 from Boyd, Rio Vista, Peaster

Boyd running back Rendyn Lamance, Rio Vista defender Hunter Carpenter and the Peaster Greyhounds were voted Week 1 football winners.

Lamance, offensive player of the week, rushed 19 times for 248 yards and 4 TDs as the Yellowjackets beat Mineral Wells, 64-40. He received 52% of the votes while Brock RB Cash Jones came in second with 26%. Lake Worth quarterback Caleb Welch came in third place.

Carpenter, defensive player of the week, received 63% of the votes after posting 9 tackles, 5 for loss, 3 sacks and returned a fumble for a touchdown as the Eagles beat Santo, 14-7, to start 1-0 for the first time since 2013. Godley two-way star Kolby Bartlett came in second with 35%.

Peaster was voted team of the week after the Greyhounds won in their UIL varsity football debut, 34-0, at Venus. They received 78% of the votes while Lake Worth came in second.
