Four from Dallas-Fort Worth area named to MaxPreps high school football Top 25
Coronavirus or not, Texas continues to be the king of high school football.
Seven teams from the Lone Star state, including Duncanville, Southlake Carroll, Denton Ryan and Allen cracked the MaxPreps National Top 25 rankings on Wednesday.
Florida’s IMG Academy was ranked No. 1. It will play Duncanville on Oct. 9 at Globe Life Park.
Galena Park North Shore, the two-time defending Class 6A Division I state champ, was ranked No. 2. The Mustangs will open the season Sept. 25 against Class 5A Division I champ Alvin Shadow Creek, which is ranked No. 16.
Duncanville comes in No. 6. The Panthers have finished runner-up to North Shore in back-to-back seasons.
Carroll is ranked No. 11. The Dragons have the top player in the Class of 2022 in junior quarterback and Texas Longhorns commit Quinn Ewers, who threw for 4,003 yards and 45 touchdowns a season ago.
State powerhouses Katy (8), Ryan (19) and Allen (24) also made the list. Ryan lost to Shadow Creek in last year’s state title game. Allen and Katy have won a combined 13 state championships.
