Mansfield Legacy 4-star defensive end passes on Alabama, OU, LSU and commits here.

Mansfield Legacy 4-star defensive end David Abiara will continue his career at South Bend. The 6-foot-4 pass rusher announced his commitment to Notre Dame on Friday.

Abiara thanked God and his family and friends in a tweet.

“I would also like to thank the entire coaching staff at Mansfield Legacy High School for pushing me to be the best player I can be on and off the field,” Abiara continued. “I would like to thank all the coaches that gave me an opportunity to come play for their university.”

Abiara is ranked as the No. 23 strong-side defensive end in the country for the Class of 2021, according to 247Sports.

He’s ranked No. 51 overall for 2021.

Abiara recored 12 tackles for loss and seven sacks in 2019. He was first team all-district.

“Big-framed defensive end prospect with requisite height and body space to add significant bulk in a college strength and conditioning program. Experienced at end in a four-man front, but could potentially fit multiple schemes,” 247Sports stated. “Possibility to grow into an interior player depending on front. Strong at the point of attack. Shows ability to turn and steer blockers with inside arm. Plays with good arm extension to aid in disengaging ability.”

Abiara holds 22 offers, which also included Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Baylor, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Wisconsin, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.
