Social media reactions following passing of Mansfield football coach Daniel Maberry
The Mansfield community has loved Daniel Maberry ever since he joined the Mansfield school district 20 years ago.
That was evident on Tuesday when the Mansfield football coach died after a two-year bout with Stage 4 lymphoma. He was released from the hospital and sent home on Monday with hospice.
He was 47.
Mansfield has supported the Maberry family since he was first diagnosed in January of 2018 from Go Fund Me accounts and neighborhood BBQs to help raise money. They also created shirts and wrist bands with #MaberryStrong on them.
The love and support overflowed into social media Tuesday night; here was the reaction on Twitter:

Coach Maberry and “losing” do not mix. He has not lost the battle with cancer, but rather has WON the ultimate trophy and crown. A fighter, a leader, fearless, and a proud #girldad. Thank you for all you have done for this community. You will be missed. #MaberryStrong pic.twitter.com/M0UqLwSMgk

We lost a great man today. Coach Maberry always saw the positive in whatever situation and would tell us to “find the joy everyday”. He was a great coach but most importantly he was a strong Christian who never lost faith in the lord and it showed everyday. Love you coach. RIP pic.twitter.com/2LF11vMpcH

I can’t believe that he’s actually gone. Coach Maberry was not only such a great coach but an even better man. He would always tell us “Keep competing, cause one day you’ll have to compete for your wife.” I promise I won’t coach. I’ll always keep competing. #MaberryStrong pic.twitter.com/AjlrSr50kv
