Southlake Carroll running back Owen Allen was named to first-team offense of the 2019 MaxPreps high school football Freshman All-American team, the only player from Dallas-Fort Worth.

Allen hit the 100-yard rushing mark seven of his last nine games, including a 115-yard, 2-touchdown performance against 6A No. 1 Duncanville in the state quarterfinals.

Allen rushed for 1,266 yards and 23 TDs for the Dragons, who posted a 13-1 record.

His best stretch came from October-November when Allen rushed for 832 yards and 19 TDs in 6 games. His two best marks were 221 yards/4 TDs vs. Keller Central and 178 yards/4 TDs vs. Lewisville.

Two other players from Texas were named All-Americans while Arch Manning, the nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning, was named MaxPreps National Freshman player of the year.
