Arlington Bowie defeated Fort Worth Paschal on Friday night at Clark Stadium in Fort Worth, 40-3.
The Vols held the lead the entire game and took a commanding 34-0 lead into halftime. They relied on a steady rushing game, earning 290 yards on the ground. On defense, Bowie allowed just 116 yards on the ground while limiting the Panthers to 23 passing yards. The Panthers managed a late 19 yard field goal to avoid the shutout.
Game was over when: Bowie senior Ty DeArman returned a punt 63 yards at the very end of the first half to make it 34-0 Volunteers.
Play of the game: Bowie junior running back D’Aunte Prevost ran for a 53-yard touchdown to give the Volunteers a 1-play scoring drive and his second touchdown of the evening. He would score four on the night.
Offensive Player of the game: Bowie senior quarterback Malcolm Mays ran for 86 yards and threw for 77 yards while throwing for 2 touchdowns and leading a dynamic offensive attack that kept the Panther defense off balance.
Defensive Player of the game: Bowie senior cornerback James Moten intercepted a pass in the first quarter off of a tipped pass.
Unsung Hero of the Game: The Bowie defense held the Paschal offense to under 200 yards on the night and forced one turnover.
