Arlington Heights wins nail-biter against South Hills

Fort Worth Arlington Heights defeated Fort Worth South Hills, 26-24, on Friday night at Scarborough Handley Field.

Arlington Heights held the lead most of the game but had to score a running touchdown late after they lost the lead to South Hills in the fourth quarter. Junior running back Bryce Long scored a two-yard touchdown with under a minute left to regain the lead for the Yellow Jackets. The extra point was blocked by South Hills, but their return attempt as well as their final drive were cut short.

Game was over when: Arlington Heights drove 78 yards and ticked off 4 minutes from the clock to take the lead for good and stop the Scorpions furious comeback bid.

Play of the game: The Yellow Jackets recovered an onside kick near the end of the first half and drove the field for a touchdown to put distance between themselves and the Scorpions.

Offensive Player of the game: Arlington Heights quarterback Deontre Jones ran for 157 yards and scored 1 touchdown.

Defensive Player of the game: The Yellow Jackets special teams stopped a Scorpions kick return at the one yard line and caused a fumble out of the back of the end zone for a touchback.

Unsung Hero of the Game: South Hills quarterback BJ Roney through for 54 yards as the alternate quarterback.
