Top football recruit de-commits from Texas A&M

Having committed to Texas A&M in October, Bobby Brown was going to be a top prospect for the Aggies.

But things changed when Kevin Sumlin was let go and former Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher was hired to start the month. Despite a home visit by Fisher on Dec. 7, he couldn’t sway the Arlington Lamar 4-star defensive end to keep his commitment.

Brown announced on Twitter his de-commitment on Wednesday night.

“I just need to look into what’s better for me,” he said in his tweet.

The 6-foot-4 D-End shouldn’t have a problem with another choice. Brown still remains one of the top football players in the state.

According to 247Sports.com, Alabama is now the frontrunner to land the Lamar senior.

Prior to committing to A&M, Brown’s Top-8 included Bama, LSU, Florida State, Baylor, Texas, OU and Houston.

Last season, Brown was voted first-team all-district. He’s the second top recruit in the area to de-commit this month. Mansfield DB Cam’ron Jones de-committed from UCLA.
