Southlake Carroll and Richland standouts win football players of the week
More than 25,000 were cast in the latest football defensive player of the week with Southlake Carroll linebacker Jacob Doddridge earning 9,705 votes.
Doddridge made 12 tackles, 2 for loss, 2 sacks, 2 hurries as the Dragons eliminated 6A Division II state champ DeSoto.
Arlington Martin junior Jayce Godley came in second place with 8,673 votes after the Warriors beat Odessa Permian. Godley had a 99-yard fumble return for a touchdown.
Offensively, Richland wideout Rashee Rice edged Euless Trinity running back Courage Keihn by 17 votes.
Rice had nine catches, 96 yards and two touchdowns as the Rebels beat Saginaw Boswell in overtime.
Keihn had 136 yards on 31 carries and scored twice as Trinity knocked off Duncanville.
