Fort Worth Christian and Richland standouts win football players of the week
More than 18,000 votes were cast for dfwVarsity football players of the week during the bi-district round.
Fort Worth Christian senior running back Cade Garcia received 3,230 votes after his 265-yard, 3-TD performance vs. Tyler Bishop Gorman.
Godley senior wideout Taylor Grimes came in second place with 1,365 votes following his 232-yard, 3-TD effort vs. Bridgeport.
Richland senior linebacker and North Texas commit Larry Nixon won defensive player of the week with 5,551 votes. The Rebels advanced past FW Southwest and Nixon recorded 10 tackles, 2 picks, 1 TD.
Southlake Carroll senior linebacker Matty Werner had 14 tackles in the Dragons’ win vs. McKinney for second place.
Colleyville Heritage senior linebacker Thomas Chapman, who came in third place, made 4 tackles, 3 for loss and 3 sacks in a victory over FW Arlington Heights.
