The Panthers took control with a dominant third quarter Friday, pulling away from determined Fort Worth Arlington Heights in a Class 5A Division I bi-district game at the Birdville FA/AC. The Panthers win streak reached 10 consecutive victories after they broke open a 14-all tie at intermission with three consecutive scoring drives after halftime. Meanwhile, the Heritage defense put the clamps on the Yellow Jackets, allowing just 38 yards of offense in the third frame. Arlington Heights scored on its first drive of the game and had the Panthers playing catchup throughout the first half. Trailing 35-14 in the fourth quarter, the Yellow Jackets cut the lead to the final margin with 7:31 left on a double reverse pass caught by quarterback Deontre Jones, but the Heritage defense didn’t yield another score.

Key players: Heritage running back Quiante Garner took control in the second half, finishing with 131 yards and three touchdowns. Panther quarterback Jagger LaRoe threw for 203 yards and two scores, connecting with Ke’Von Ahmad on seven catches for 119 yards and a touchdown. Arlington Heights’ Davarius Webster caught nine passes for 75 yards and a score.

Key stats: The Panthers dominated with 420 yards of offense, but turned the ball over three times deep in Yellow Jacket territory.
