Keller Timber Creek holds off Arlington Martin in wild one

Keller Timber Creek running back Blake Irving rushed for 211 yards, including the game-winning 20-yard touchdown with 4:59 to play, as the Falcons survived an offensive battle to defeat Arlington Martin 54-51 in a Class 6A Division I bi-district game at Maverick Stadium. Timber Creek’s defense held on downs with 1:09 remaining. The Falcons meet San Angelo Central next.

Key players: Cade Schrader threw three TD passes, and the Falcons’ other three scores were on a fake punt, kickoff return, and reverse-option pass. Eric Mills had 111 yards receiving and scored on a 96-yard kickoff.

Key stat: Arlington Martin rushed for 322 yards, including 252 yards and two scores by Juma Otoviano.

Records: Timber Creek 7-4; Martin 6-5.
