Grapevine quarterback Alan Bowman threw for 366 yards and five touchdowns Friday as the Mustangs defeated Fort Worth Southwest 70-0 in a Class 5A Division II bi-district game at Pennington Field in Bedford. Bowman connected with Zach Carnes and Cale Dow twice each on touchdowns passes, and threw one to Dylan Gonzalez. The playoff victory is Grapevine’s first in a decade. The Mustangs face Aledo (11-0) in the area round next week.
Key players: Grapevine’s Zach Carnes finished with seven receptions for 145 yards and two scores, and Cale Down finished with four receptions, 72 yards and two touchdowns.
Key stat: Grapevine’s defense returned two interceptions for scores and had five total on the night.
