With offenses combining for more than 1,100 yards and nearly 60 first downs, the Abilene Eagles advanced in the Class 6A Division II playoffs Friday with a 65-36 defeat of Arlington at Abilene’s Shotwell Stadium. The Colts led 24-21 in the second quarter before the Eagles scored on three straight possessions for a 43-24 advantage in the third quarter. Then, after Arlington scored, Abilene retaliated with three more unanswered scores.
Key players: Arlington quarterback Caelan Day was 24-of-31 for 322 yards and touchdowns of 12 and 26 yards to Rashad Anderson, who caught 12 passes for 160 yards. Also for the Colts, D’Montae Davis rushed 13 times for 87 yards and a TD.
