Lancaster rolls past Arlington Seguin with big first half

Lancaster quarterback Trevor Hatton threw for five touchdowns in the first half as the Tigers rolled over Arlington Seguin 56-14 in a Class 5A Division II bi-district game at Irving Schools Stadium. Lancaster didn’t attempt a pass in the second half, while Seguin tried just one in each half.

Key players: Hatton completed 14 of 21 passes in the first half, throwing two touchdown passes each to Omar Manning and Cartrell Thomas. Dequavas Sneed caught the fifth. Kelly Da’Marrion scored Seguin’s only first-half points when he returned a blocked punt for a TD. In the third quarter, Seguin’s Jalen Brooks scored on an 11-yard run while Lancaster’s Devante Lacy busted loose for a 70-yard TD run.

Key stat: Seguin had just one first down, no completions and just five yards total offense in the first half. On the fifth play of the game, already trailing 7-0, Seguin earned a first down on a five-yard run. The next time the Cougars made a first down was with 6:05 left in the third quarter.
