Abilene races past Keller Timber Creek to clinch district title
Abilene QB Peyton Killam threw five touchdown passes to five different receivers as the Eagles’ offense put on a show in a 56-31 District 3-6A win over Keller Timber Creek. Abilene clinched the outright district title with the win and will host Arlington High next Friday night in the 6A Division II playoffs. Keller Timber Creek will be the second seed in Division I out of 3-6A and will play an undetermined opponent in the bi-district playoffs next week.
Key players: Timber Creek WR Eric Mills had three catches for 53 yards and returned two third-quarter kickoffs for touchdowns.
Key stat: Abilene scored on six of its first seven possessions; the only time it did not was when it took a knee at the end of the first half. Abilene finished with 539 yards of offense.
