Fossil Ridge lands playoff spot

Keller Fossil Ridge wrapped up the final playoff berth in District 3-6A Thursday at Keller ISD Stadium, but it took overtime to do it as the Panthers prevailed 21-14 against Weatherford. Fossil Ridge defensive back Cole Crawford picked off his third pass of the game to thwart the Kangaroos on their OT possession, after Anthony Smith had scored his third touchdown of the game to give the Panthers the lead.

Key players: Smith led the Panthers with 26 carries for 205 yards and scored three times . Weatherford quarterback Lane Gilley connected on 20 of 31 passing attempts for 223 yards and three TDs.

Key stat: The Panther defense, which forced five turnovers and limited the Weatherford running game to 32 yards.
