Burleson Centennial wins at Granbury, clinches playoff berth
Burleson Centennial clinched a third consecutive playoff berth as the Spartans defeated Granbury 35-21 Friday in a District 9-5A game at Pirate Stadium in Granbury.
Key players: Centennial slot back Kelton Tezeno carried six times for 86 yards and scored twice on 13 carries. Spartans senior quarterback Payton Strambler accounted for the other two offensive scores with runs of 33 and 1 yards. Granbury quarterback Kyler Young passed for 158 yards and a score, and rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown. Pirates running back Michael Mulholland scored on an 8-yard run.
Key stat: The victory along with Crowley’s 40-14 defeat of Arlington Seguin clinched a playoff berth for the Spartans.
Records: Burleson Centennial, 7-1, 5-1 in 9-5A; Granbury, 2-6, 1-5.
