Burleson Centennial too much for Burleson
Centennial senior quarterback Payton Strambler ran for two scores and threw for a pair touchdowns as the Spartans defeated Burleson, 28-11, in the school’s annual “Battle of the Boot” game.
Key players: Strambler carried 18 times of 122 yards and scored on runs of 1 and 14 yards. Spartan receiver Xander Richards caught all six passes for 100 yards and scores of 14 and 32 yards. Burleson quarterback Tristen DeLeon completed eight of 12 passes for 124 yards and a touchdown.
Key stat: Centennial not only collected an import District 9-5A victory, the Spartans also reclaimed “The Boot” for the first time in three years. Burleson leads the all-time series, 3-2.
Records: Burleson, 3-4, 2-2 in 9-5A; Centennial, 6-1, 3-1 in 9-5A.
