Key defensive plays lift Azle over Saginaw
The Azle defense intercepted four passes and returned two for touchdowns as the Azle football team defeated Saginaw by a score of 38-14 on Friday night at Rough Rider Stadium.
Azle defensive back Kole Taylor intercepted a Saginaw pass in the end zone late in in the second quarter for a touch back, after the Rough Riders had driven down to the Hornets 11-yard line. Taylor halted a Saginaw drive late in the fourth quarter with his second interception of the game.
Key players: Azle running back Taylor Strong rushed for 108 yardsme. Azle receiver Jordan McNeely had 79 yards receiving and a touchdown. Saginaw receiver Quindell Samreth finished with 75 yards receiving and a touchdown.
Key stat: Azle had back to back touchdowns on interception returns in the third quarter, as defensive back Bradley Crawford returned a 40-yard interception for a touchdown and linebacker Seth Bell returned a 20-yard pick.
