Fast start helps Abilene run over Fossil Ridge

Abilene ran for 312 yards and four touchdowns while forcing four Keller Fossil Ridge turnovers in a 45-16 victory over the Panthers on Friday night at Shotwell Stadium in Abilene.

Key players: Abilene’s Abram Smith rushed for 144 yards and scored two first-quarter touchdowns while Abilene quarterback Peyton Killam ran for 131 yards and two touchdowns. Fossil Ridge running back Anthony Smith gained 154 yards and scored a touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Key stat: Abilene’s defense intercepted three Fossil Ridge passes, including one returned 52 yards for a touchdown by Qua’Shawn Washington to open the second half. Abilene scored 17 points off Fossil Ridge turnovers.
