Arlington Bowie improves to 5-0 by beating Arlington Sam Houston

After a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, Arlington Bowie’s offense sputtered while Arlington Sam Houston got a touchdown and field goal to get within 14-10, but the Volunteers turned it on in the final quarter to pull away for a 35-10 District 4-6A victory.

Key players: Bowie RB Camron Gardner had 115 yards on seven carries with two TDs coming in the fourth quarter, including a 60-yard run that gave the Volunteers a 28-10 lead. Bowie’s Brayden Johnson returned a punt 82 yards for a TD for the game’s opening score. Sam Houston junior QB Jacob Dollar passed for 199 yards on 47 passes.

Key stat: The Texans stayed close until a bad punt and a penalty gave Bowie the ball on the Sam Houston 13, and the Vols scored scored two plays later.
