Fort Worth Trimble Tech denies FW YMLA’s bid for first win
Jaylon McLean threw a 29-yard halfback pass to Bryce Grubbs for the winning touchdown with 11 seconds left as Fort Worth Trimble Tech avoided the upset bid of first-year Fort Worth YMLA in a District 7-5A game Friday at Scarborough-Handley Field. YMLA went ahead 17-13 with 44 seconds left when quarterback Bryan Cottingim threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Curtis Kirby.
Key players: Trimble Tech quarterback Vince Burton was 16-for-27 passing for 159 yards and two touchdowns. Teammate Keishawn Every rushed 22 times for 112 yards.
Key stats: It was the first time YMLA, which has no seniors, has scored this season. Cottingim was 4-for-4 passing for 63 yards on the touchdown drive that nearly gave the Wildcats their first win in school history.
Records: Trimble Tech 3-2, 1-1; YMLA 0-5, 0-2.
