Big plays help Colleyville Heritage overpower Eastern Hills

Colleyville Heritage used a stingy defense and big plays from quarterback Landry French to cruise to a 35-7 win over Eastern Hills in a District 8-5A game Friday night at Mustang-Panther Stadium. French passed 23 yards to Connor Cole for a TD in the first half and 21 yards to Kam Brown for a score in the second half. Eastern Hills scored late in the game on a 3-yard run by Jer’mauryon Bishop that followed a 36-yard pass from Anthony Maxwell to Courtland Walton.

Key players: Fort Worth Eastern Hills: Maxwell completed 5 of 12 passes for 44 yards and a TD; Colleyville Heritage: French completed 6of 15 passes for 61 yards and 2 TDs; Marlo Ortiz rushed for 113 yards on 15 carries.

Key stat: Eastern Hills did not cross midfield until its final drive late in the fourth quarter and had only 66 yards of total offense.

Records: Colleyville Heritage 3-2, 2-0 8 5-A; Eastern Hills 2-3, 0-2 8-5A
