While Brock and Van Alstyne battled the weather Thursday night at Dallas Baptist, it was pace of play that ended up being a friend to both teams.
Unfortunately for the Eagles, it also spelled a quick end to a deep playoff run as Van Alstyne got the sweep in this best-of-three Class 3A Region II series by 4-3 and 7-2 scores.
The Panthers advance to the state tournament next week in Austin.
Van Alstyne (31-3-2) made certain to deliver the dramatics in Game 2, waiting until the top of the seventh to rev its offensive engine.
