Introducing the 2025-26 Star-Telegram Boys Basketball Newcomer of the Year
Introducing the Star-Telegram’s 2025-26 Fort Worth-area Boys High School Basketball Newcomer of the Year:
Mansfield Summit freshman Joseph Creal III
Creal broke onto the scene and stole the show, helping power Mansfield Summit to a Class 5A Division II state championship. The guard earned title game MVP honors, scoring 20 points and showcasing his elite shooting by converting six 3-pointers.
During the season, he averaged 10 point and 4 rebounds en route to being named the District 8-5A Newcomer of the Year and earning first-team all-district honors. Summit head coach Emund Prichett said “the sky is the limit” for the 6-foot-6 first-year player, who seems to have all the tools to thrive in high school and beyond. He landed an offer from UT-Arlington in September.
