Alvarado head coach Casey Walraven, one of the top performing Class 4A head coaches in the Fort Worth-area, was announced as the next head coach at Hutto high School.

Walraven has led the Indians, his alma mater, for the past four seasons. After a 7-5 season in 2023, Alvarado became one of the best Class 4A squads in Texas. The team made consecutive regional final appearances, where it fell to Celina, a state power.

Alvarado, led by a stellar offense, had a 25-2 overall record the past two seasons. They developed multiple elite Class 4A standouts such as running back Demarcus Belton, who notched 44 TDs during his senior campaign en route to Star-Telegram All-Area honors.

The year prior, quarterback Cardea Collier accounted for 75 total touchdowns en route to being named the Star-Telegram Offensive Player of the Year. The production under Walraven’s guidance continued, as QB KJ Jenkins threw for 47 TDs in 2025.

Walraven also has stints as a head coach at Cleburne and Grandview. He’ll replace Eli Reinhart, who spent one season with Hutto. Reinhart, North Crowley’s offensive coordinator during the Class 6A Division I championship run in 2024, was hired as an offensive coordinator at Grand Valley State, a Division II power in Michigan.

Now, Alvarado is arguably the most attractive opening in the Fort Worth-area.

The move comes at a time when a flurry of top coaches are leaving Fort Worth-area football. Former Southlake Carroll head coach Riley Dodge departed to SMU to become a passing game coordinator and tight ends coach and former North Crowley coach Ray Gates joined UNT as a special assistant to the head coach and a defensive line coach.
