Mansfield Legacy’s Jeff Hulme to join Art Briles’ staff at Eastern New Mexico
Mansfield Legacy head coach Jeff Hulme is joining Art Briles’ staff as the defensive coordinator at Eastern New Mexico University, Mansfield ISD Athletics confirmed to the Star-Telegram Friday.
Matt Stepp of Dave Campbell’s Texas Football was the first to report.
Hulme was hired as Legacy’s coach in 2021, returning to Mansfield ISD, where he spent eight years as Mansfield High School’s head coach. He posted a 13-38 overall record with Legacy. This season, Hulme led the Broncos to four wins in their best season since 2019.
After arriving from Fort Bend Clements in 2008, Hulme posted six winning seasons with Mansfield, which included a run to the state semifinals in 2015; that season saw the Tigers snap a 42-year district title drought.
Before rejoining Mansfield ISD, Hulme spent five seasons at Waco Midway, where he posted a 47-17 record.
Briles is returning to college coaching for the first time since being fired by Baylor in 2016 amid a university-wide scandal over the way it handled sexual assault allegations against football players.
