Fort Worth All-Area Softball: Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, more

Player of the year: Madi Doty, Grandview

Grandview junior Madi Doty, the Texas High School Coaches Association Class 3A MVP and a Texas commit, was the driving force in the Zebra’s Class 3A Division I state championship run.

As a pitcher, Doty was dominant, allowing nine runs in 142 ⅓ innings (0.57 ERA) and picking up 256 strikeouts. She won 24 games and lost one. Grandview finished with a stellar 35-3 overall record and a perfect 10-0 district record.

Her hitting was just as elite as her pitching. Doty posted a .426 batting average with eight home runs and 52 RBIs, and was named the District 18-3A MVP and the MVP in the 3A Division I state championship game. As a senior in 2026, Doty will a top returner not only in Texas, but in the entire nation.

Pitcher of the Year: Taylor McKean, Aledo

Aledo senior Taylor McKean, a Tarleton Softball pledge, was one of the best pitchers in Dallas-Fort Worth and played a pivotal role in another strong season for the Bearcats. She posted a 1.007 ERA and struck out 189 batters, helping lead Aledo to a 30-4 overall and a 12-0 district record.

McKean’s pitching was a huge factor in Aledo’s run to the Class 5A Division I state semifinals. The Bearcats lost to Melissa, MaxPreps’ No. 1-ranked team in the nation and the UIL Class 5A Division I state champions. McKean earned TGCA All-State honors.

Newcomer of the Year: Tempe Perry, Aledo

Freshman Tempe Perry was a force in her debut season with the Bearcats. With a .441 batting average and a .506 on-base percentage, she was a consistent offensive threat. Perry added five home runs and 29 RBIs, showcasing impressive power as a first year.

As a pitcher, Perry tallied a 1.652 ERA and 68 strikeouts en route to District 5-5A Pitcher of the Year honors. She played a pivotal role in guiding the Bearcats to the state semifinals, demonstrating composure and experience beyond her years.

Offensive Player of the Year: Lillie Gaudio, Mansfield Legacy

As an underclassman, Lillie Gaudio’s batting stats are eye-popping. Facing elite competition in Class 6A Texas high school softball, she recorded a .690 batting average and had 64 RBIs en route to TGCA All-State honors.

Gaudio led the Broncos to the Class 6A Division II regional semifinals with series wins over Southlake Carroll and Midland, and her power was evident; she tallied 18 doubles, nine triples and 17 home runs, earning District 3-6A Offensive Player of the Year honors.

Coach of the Year: Christina Gwyn, Grapevine

Led by coach Christina Gwyn, the Grapevine Mustangs came within one win of a Class 5A Division II state championship appearance. After a second-place finish in District 6-5A, the Mustangs won four playoff series, finishing the season with a 25-13 record.
