Keller, the No. 1 team in the Fort Worth-area Class 6A rankings, narrowly avoided an upset on Tuesday at Dragon Stadium in Southlake, Texas.

Keller (15-2-4) defeated Crowley (12-10-3) 2-1, surging from behind to erase a late Eagle lead. The Indians scored the game winner in the first half of extra time – Riker Doolittle drew a foul in the box and converted the penalty kick.

Keller controlled the ball in Eagle territory for most of the contest, but missed several opportunities at the net. When it mattered most, however, Keller found a way to win.

“We did a good job,” Keller head coach Jason Bates said. “We did miss some opportunities but you got to give credit to their goal keepers. They did a good job and made some great saves, and they defended well tonight.”

Keller’s Andrew Landowski scored the equalizer with eight minutes remaining in regulation. Crowley had taken a temporary lead following a Keller penalty that resulted in a successful penalty kick for Daniel Saldivar.

Moving forward, Beck is looking for his team to do a better job of finishing opportunities and closing out games.

“Make some extra passes,” Beck said. “Get some numbers in there and be a little bit more dangerous. If we can do that we’ll be a better team.”

Southlake Carroll stifles North Crowley

Southlake Carroll scored on two second-half penalty kicks and limited North Crowley to two shots for the game as the Dragons pulled out a 3-1 win over the Panthers in a Class 6A bi-district match on Tuesday at Crowley ISD Stadium.

Carroll (14-6-2), No. 4 in the Star-Telegram Class 6A area rankings, advances to the area round and will meet El Paso Eastlake (17-7-1) later this week. Eastlake pounded Odessa 6-0 on Tuesday.

North Crowley (13-9-1) scored in the eighth minute on a goal by Manuel Perez to take an early 1-0 lead. Perez dribbled the ball along the end line to the right of the goal and took a shot with an almost impossible angle that found the net just inside the front left post.

But that was one of only two shots the Panthers got off on the night and the only one on goal. Carroll keeper Grant Hobby pounced on a weak header in the 75th minute that would have went just wide left of the net.

The Dragons tied the game in the 16th minute when Fife Adeyemo blasted a shot from the right side off the North Crowley goal keeper. The rebound went right to Liam Burns who knocked it in from 10 yards out.

Burns, John Skiermont and Adeyemo put plenty of pressure on North Crowley throughout, but it took two penalty shots for the Dragons to take the lead.

Skiermont was fouled while dribbling along the baseline to the left of the goal and Burns was true with the penalty kick to make it 2-1 in the 58th minute.

Burns made it a hat trick in the 76th minute when North Crowley was called for a hand ball in the box and he shot a dart to the bottom left corner to make it 3-1.

The Dragons finished with 14 shots, 11 on goal.

L.D. Bell scores three in OT to oust Keller Central

Hurst L.D. Bell lost a 2-0 lead to Keller Central, but the Blue Raiders rebounded in overtime with three goals to send the Chargers packing, 5-2, in a Class 6A bi-district match on Tuesday at the Birdville Fine Arts/Athletics Center.

Bell (19-3-3), No. 2 in the Star-Telegram Class 6A area rankings, will face Odessa Permian (15-5-4) in the area round on Friday in Abilene. Permian defeated El Paso Franklin 3-1 in overtime on Tuesday.

After an early Blue Raider goal by Colton Parks, Thomas MacLeod made it 2-0 in the 48th minute beating a Charger defender to the ball then out dueling the goal keeper.

Central (11-5-4) rallied and tied the game at two at the 55 minute mark when Jasper Knight converted a penalty kick after a Bell foul in the box.

Bell broke the tie for good in the 83rd minute when a clearing kick by Blue Raider keeper AJ Rosen bounded down the pitch and Mehdi Dif beat a Charger defender then headed the ball over the head of the Central goal minder to make it 3-2.

Marcos Salcido found the net near the left post in the 86th minute and Hisham Al-Noubani capped the scoring in the second 10-minute period to seal the game.

At the end of regulation, North Side (10-11-3) and Northwest were tied with one goal a piece. The Texans, however, capitalized in overtime with a game winning goal.
