Keller ISD announced that it has hired Keller Central’s next head football coach: former NFL safety and Hurst L.D. Bell defensive coordinator Eric Vance.

Vance’s Blue Raider defense held all District 3-6A opponents under 30-points with the exception of North Crowley, an area powerhouse. He’ll take over a Keller Central team that did not win a single game in the 2023 season.

In the last three seasons, the Keller Central Chargers have won three games. On Dec. 5, 2023, Keller Central head coach Mike Sports resigned his position. He ended his tenure as the Charger’s head coach with a 6-32 record.

Vance spent six season in the NFL as a defensive back and had stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Los Angeles Chargers and New England Patriots.

Prior to his Texas high school football coaching career, Vance spent six years in the Buccaneers’ player development department and also worked on the University of Miami’s football operations team.

Vance started high school coaching at Southlake Carroll in 2014, and he proceeded to have assistant stints with Trophy Club Byron Nelson and Chisholm Trail prior to becoming L.D. Bell’s defensive coordinator in 2021.
