After resigning from Cedar Hill in November, it didn’t take long for Carlos Lynn to find a new landing spot. Lynn is the new head football coach at Crowley, the school district announced late Thursday night.

Dave Campbell’s Texas Football insider Matt Stepp was the first to report.

Lynn spent the past six seasons at the helm with Cedar Hill, where he posted a 44-26 record. The Longhorns went 2-8 this season and missed the playoffs for the first time since Lynn’s first season in 2017.

Cedar Hill went to the playoffs with Lynn four times with a trip to the area round in 2019, regional semifinals in 2021 and the Class 6A D2 state championship game in 2020, where the Longhorns lost to Katy.

He replaces JJ Resendez, who was reassigned in November.

Resendez spent the previous five seasons at Crowley.

The Eagles went 25-28 overall with Resendez and made the playoffs three times, including this season when they went 4-7 and played Southlake Carroll in the Class 6A D2 bi-district round.

The Eagles were 22-15 in district play under Resendez.

For Lynn, who is a Dallas native, he makes his third stop as a head coach. Before Cedar Hill, he led Arlington Seguin for nine years and had a 44-50 record, including 7-4 in his final season.

Under his watch, the Cougars went to the postseason four times and won a playoff game in 2016.

Lynn is a state champion as an assistant coach with Cedar Hill from 1998 to 2007 alongside Joey McGuire, who is the head coach at Texas Tech.

Lynn was the Longhorns’ defensive coordinator in 2006 when they won the Class 5A D2 title over Cypress Falls. That year’s team went 16-0 and the defense held teams to 10 or fewer points five times.
