Highly recruited Arlington Martin cornerback Javien Toviano will announce commitment
Arlington Martin 4-star cornerback Javien Toviano will announce his college commitment at noon Thursday from Martin’s indoor football facility.
Toviano has narrowed his college choice to Texas, LSU, Georgia, Texas A&M and Michigan.
Three 247Sports experts have predicted LSU as Toviano’s choice.
Toviano will also receive his Under Armour All-American jersey.
According to 247Sports composite, Toviano is rated as the No. 6 cornerback in the country among the Class of 2023. He’s the ninth ranked player in the state and 56th ranked player in the nation.
Toviano entered the season as the No. 1 high school football player in the Fort Worth area.
Before he narrowed his college choice, Toviano had 34 offers with 28 from a Power Five school, including TCU.
According to 247Sports national recruiting expert Chris Singletary, “From a measurable standpoint he checks in where you would on a top defensive back prospect to be at 6-foot-0 and 185-pounds. Long limbed athlete that has a 77-inch wingspan to further validate his overall size. His athleticism is above average when you have a chance to watch him and shows up constantly.”
Toviano was voted District 8-6A defensive newcomer of the year in 2020 as a sophomore. He was first-team all-district last season as a junior.
According to the team’s Max Preps page, Toviano amassed 105 tackles in 35 games during the past three seasons with 83 solo tackles, three interceptions, 18 pass deflections, five forced fumbles and three recoveries.
Martin posted a 28-7-1 record over the last three seasons and 17-0-1 in district.
This season, Toviano finished with 27 solo tackles, 38 total tackles, two interceptions, three deflections, two forced fumbles and one recovery. He also played on offense and special teams. Toviano rushed 41 times for 415 yards and eight touchdowns last season. He added 45 carries for 244 yards and two scores as a sophomore.
