Colleyville Heritage d. Grapevine, 25-12, 25-20, 23-25, 25-19

The Panthers, No. 2 in the Class 5A area rankings, completed the season sweep over the Mustangs with a four-set victory at Grapevine in District 7-5A on Tuesday night.

Heritage improved to 30-7 overall and 8-0 in district while Grapevine dropped to 10-16 and 5-3.

Suli Davis had back-to-back kills to help Heritage roll to an 18-7 lead in the first set. She added a third off the Morgan Howard assist to make it 20-9. Air Force commit Reagan Engler went off the slide and hit off the block on set point for the 1-0 lead.

After the game was tied at 6, Heritage went on an 8-1 run to lead 14-8 in the second set. Grapevine’s Braylee Zimmer had a big block and the Mustangs cut it to 14-12.

Back to back points from Maddie Bird and a kill from Houston commit Ella Busey helped pace the Panthers to a win and 2-0 lead in the match.

Busey led with a team-high 21 kills while Davis added 15 kills and 14 digs. Howard went for 50 assists and 14 digs.

Grapevine started the third with a 4-1 lead and Ella Larsen went through the block to make it 8-8. Ava Shankle and Greyson Button scored to give the Mustangs a 17-16 edge. Bird had back to back aces to tie it at 18 and Howard set up Davis for a 20-19 lead.

Zimmer had another big stuff and Shankle got the kill on set point to give the Mustangs the win and cut the lead to 2-1.

Grapevine scored three straight points and went on a 6-1 run to lead the fourth 13-11. But Heritage answered back and led 18-16 on the kill from Busey. Heritage would make it five straight and Busey had three straight kills from the left side before the Panthers completed the win.

Bird and Engler had 10 kills each. Engler hit 0.562. Ava Ash finished with 12 digs. Lucy Cisneros and Bird each had three aces.

300: Brewer head coach Jill Barkey became the newest member of the 300-win club after the Brewer’s home win over Granbury 25-16, 22-25, 27-25, 25-12 on Tuesday night. It was Brewer’s first district win (1-6) this season. Barkey is in her first season with the Bears after spending the previous 14 years with Alvarado. During her time at Alvarado, the Indians went to the playoffs eight of the past 10 seasons with bi-district titles in 2013, 2020 and 2021.

Fossil Ridge d. Central, 25-21, 25-20, 25-21

The Panthers picked up a big win in District 4-6A after sweeping the Chargers at home on Tuesday night.

Ridge improved to 4-4 in district while Central dropped to 3-5.

LSU commit Lainee Pyles led the way in the first set before Aaliyah Toppin scored on set point to give Ridge a 1-0 lead.

Pyles gave Ridge a 6-3 lead in the second, but Central tied it at 13 after back to back aces from Kira Smith. Three straight errors cut the Ridge lead to 19-18, but the Panthers scored three straight points to go up four before completing the win in the second for a 2-0 lead. Jordyn Carpenter got the block on set point.

Pyles continued her dominance in the third for a 10-5 lead before Jaylani Evans finished off an Allison Montoya assist for Central. Ridge had its biggest lead of the night at 18-11, but Central rallied with an 8-1 run highlighted by a solo block from DBU commit Karly Wells. The game was tied at 19, but then Pyles had three straight kills and Ridge got an ace that bounced off the top of the net to complete the sweep.

Pyles had 21 kills on 0.462 hitting and 13 digs. Toppin added seven kills and Sofia Valentin and Iylan Collier had 16 and 15 assists, respectively. Carpenter had 12 digs and Alyssa Castillo had a game-high 14 digs.

Northwest d. Saginaw, 18-25, 25-21, 25-12, 25-10

Three players had 10 or more kills led by Rylee Jackson’s 13 on 0.545 hitting as the Texans defeated the Rough Riders in District 5-5A.

Northwest improved to 6-0 and 30-8 overall.

Saginaw drops to 4-2 and 22-14.

TCU commit Lydia Seymour had 12 kills on 0.632 hitting and Levariya Pinder added 11 kills. Sophie Chambers finished with 23 assists and 16 digs and Cassidy Hargesheimer added 16 assists and 10 digs.

Kiley Brooks and Madison Scrivner had 17 and 14 digs, respectively.

Boswell d. Crowley, 25-12, 25-7, 25-20

Three players had 10 or more kills led by Stephanie Gutierrez’s 16 and the Pioneers swept the Eagles to improve to 8-0 in District 3-6A and 27-10 overall.

Camille Middleton added 14 kills and 16 digs, and Madi Parrish chipped in 12 kills and 11 digs. The Pioneers had 12 blocks as a team. Brianna Russell finished with 34 assists while Maddie Konen added 15.

Argyle d. Lake Dallas, 25-19, 25-11, 25-14

Piper Mickenheim had 25 digs and Katherine Holtman added 10 kills as the Eagles improved to 5-3 and 26-13 after sweeping the Falcons in a District 7-5A game.

Shaye Feely put in 20 digs, four aces and five kills, and Sydney Payne added 17 assists. Jordyn Moore chipped in 13 assists and six digs.

Argyle will face Richland on Friday night.

Aledo d. Rider, 26-28, 25-9, 25-14, 25-15

Lauryn Mack had a game-high 17 kills and the Ladycats defeated the Raiders in four sets during a District 5-5A game.

Aledo improves to 6-1 and 25-14 overall.

Rider drops to 1-6 and 14-13.

Aledo remains in second place behind 6-0 Justin Northwest. The two teams will play in Aledo on Friday night.

Mack added 14 digs and Vivian Parker had a team-high 22 digs and 14 kills. Tarleton State commit Maddie Frank also had 14 kills. TCU commit Alyssa Gonzales had five aces. Rylee Metts had 37 assists and 13 digs and Ava Redding chipped in 20 assists.
