Bell linebacker named Texas statewide player of the week after win over Sam Houston

LD Bell linebacker Trey Wilson was named Class 6A Built Ford Tough Texas High School Football Player of the Week following the Blue Raiders’ 10-7 win over Arlington Sam Houston in Week 3.

Wilson, a senior, had 14 solo tackles, 24 total tackles, one tackle for loss, one QB hurry and one forced fumble.

Bell is 4-0 for the first time since 2012.

The Blue Raiders opened District 3-6A against Chisholm Trail on Friday and won 56-0.

Wilson is a 3-star prospect, listed at 6-3 and 240 pounds. His primary position is linebacker, but also lines up on the defensive line as an edge rusher. According to 247Sports, Wilson is No. 46 among all 2023 edge rushers in the country and he ranks in the Top 100 of all 2023s in the state.

He holds four offers, including from UNLV, Jackson State and SFA.

Through three weeks, Wilson leads the Fort Worth-area with 54 total tackles. Wilson also ranks No. 33 in the Star-Telegram Top 100 this season.

Wilson is a multi-sport athlete while also competing in track and field. He earned a state bronze medal in the shot put in May.
