Top 5 high school football games to watch in Week 4 around the Fort Worth-area
Looking for a good high school football game to watch in Week 4, but don’t want to travel far.
We have the top games in the Fort Worth-area right here:
Gunter (2-0) at Brock (0-3)
7:30 p.m. Friday
It’s a battle of Class 3A powerhouse programs when the Tigers visit the Eagles in Parker County.
Brock comes in winless, but the Eagles have lost to three state ranked teams in Class 4A D2. Meanwhile Gunter has outscored two private school teams 110-6.
Brock was a state runner-up last season, led by quarterback Tyler Moody, a member of the Star-Telegram Top 100. Moody led the Fort Worth-area with 45 touchdown passes.
The Eagles figure it out against a team in their own classification. Give me Brock, 28-24.
Arlington Seguin (1-2) vs. Mansfield Summit (1-2)
7 p.m. Thursday, Newsom Stadium, Mansfield
Who can make it back to 0.500, the Cougars or the Jaguars as district play begins in 5-5A D2?
The top players in this game come on defense, as Summit is led by defensive end Legend Journey, last season’s all-area defensive newcomer of the year. He’s No. 28 in the S-T Top 100.
Summit will need to buckle down on D as the Jags have given up 121 points through three weeks.
Meanwhile, the Cougars have two of the best defensive backs in the area in 4-star Texas commit Jamel Johnson (No. 7 in Top 100) and 3-star Washington commit Diesel Gordon (No. 27).
Seguin has fared slightly better with 68 points for and 79 points against. Both teams won last week with Seguin beating Aubrey and Summit beating Crowley.
This one is on the fence. Give me the home team, Summit 21-17.
Euless Trinity (0-3) at Boswell (3-0)
7 p.m. Friday
District 3-6A kicks off Friday at new Pioneer Stadium and the district favorite Trinity Trojans are in trouble.
Ever since Max Preps started tracking football in 2004, Trinity has never started the season 0-3. The Trojans haven’t even lost three games in a season since 2017.
But don’t blame Trinity that much, it has played three tough opponents in Prosper, Rockwall-Heath and Marcus.
Can the Trojans rebound and pick up their first win? They’ll have to do it against a Boswell team that is off to its best start since 2017. The Pioneers feature an explosive offense that’s averaging over 45 points per game.
Quarterback Sawyer Farr is playing lights out with 661 yards passing and nine touchdowns during the last two weeks. Running back Ezra Carter is among the area’s best and Farr’s favorite target has been Gage Ellis.
Trinity loses in district for the first time since 2019, give me Boswell 35-27.
Keller (3-0) vs. Eaton (1-2)
7 p.m. Friday, Northwest ISD Stadium, Justin
District 4-6A gets underway between the Indians and Eagles, both playoff teams from a season ago.
Last season, Eaton trumped Keller by 22 and comes into the game with the tougher schedule thus far with Braswell, Little Elm and Hebron.
Keller is out scoring teams 105-44 this season led by its pass attack in quarterback Tre Guerra, running back Cameron Rayford and receiver Amarion Henry.
Eaton still has the best player on the field in 4-star Stanford tight end commit Jaden Platt, but it’s Keller that avenges the loss, 38-30.
Grapevine Faith (2-1) at Argyle Liberty Christian (2-1)
7 p.m. Friday
The Warriors are under Jason Witten for the second straight year and a win last week matches last season’s total when the team went 2-8.
Liberty quarterback Jacob Vaughan is among the leading throwers with 302 yards per game and a 7 TD to 1 INT ratio. Look for him to get the ball to his No. 1 target in Brady Janusek (341 yards receiving, 3 TD).
Faith fell from the No. 1 spot in the area rankings after its first loss, 23-7 against Episcopal School of Dallas. Still, the Lions are averaging nearly 40 points game behind quarterback Chase Cross (643 yards passing, 6 TD) and running backs John Raybuck and Clayton Sobecki, who have combined for 10 touchdown runs.
Give me Witten and Liberty Christian, 28-21.
