Fort Worth South Hills can’t keep up with Dallas Molina during season-opening defeat
Dallas Molina started the season on fire with a 42-0 win over Fort Worth South Hills Thursday night at Clark Stadium.
“It’s the first game, you never know what will happen,” Dallas Molina head coach Lance Bruner said. “My guys are prepared, so I feel good about us getting the win.”
The road to the win started when Molina’s Robert Johnson scored the first touchdown of the night with 7:46 left in the first quarter. Molina (1-0) started the second quarter aggressively by attempting a trick play with a double pass that resulted in a 20-yard gain.
Johnson scored another touchdown for the Jaguars, this time from 15 yards out with 9:08 left in the second, bringing the score to 14-0. Molina’s Terrence Reed ran the ball to put the Jaguars up 21-0 with 3:56 left in the period.
The touchdowns kept coming for the Jaguars, this time Isaiah Thompson made an interception that pushed the score to 27-0. With 11 seconds left in the half, Molina’s Glen Jackson ran for a touchdown making the score 35-0 at intermission.
It was a slower pace for both teams in the second half. The only score came when Reed scored a touchdown ending the night with a score of 42-0.
“I’ll be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed,” said South Hills head coach Mika Harp. “I love them, I’m proud of them.”
South Hills (0-1) will have another chance next Friday as it faces off against Venus on the road. Molina also has an away game next week as it takes on Farmersville.
“No one can be better than 1-0,” Bruner said about the start of the season.
