Softball/Baseball recap (4/12): Argyle knocks off Krum, Godley avenges loss to Alvarado



Softball

Argyle 10, Krum 4

The Eagles got off to a hot start with three runs in the first-inning as they defeated the Bobcats on Tuesday in a battle of undefeated teams in District 7-4A.

Argyle goes to 9-0.

Krum drops to 8-1.

The two will play in Argyle on Thursday.

Argyle’s rally in the opening fame began with a two-out two-run base hit from Hailey Clark. Rylee Sandifer followed with a shallow RBI single in center to extend the lead to 3-0.

Ava Edwards got herself in a jam when Krum loaded the bases in the bottom of the second, but the Eagles pitcher allowed just one run on a fielder’s choice.

Clark added an RBI in the fourth to give Argyle a 5-1 lead. The Eagles tacked on three runs in the fifth highlighted by a two-run single by Reagan Dillion to make it 9-1.

The Bobcats cut it to 9-4 in the sixth with RBIs from Kennedy Brooks, Addison Martindale and Abby Seitzinger.

Maya Bland tripled in the seventh and scored on a Krum error for the game’s final run.

Aledo 12, Azle 6

Seven runs in the third inning sparked the Ladycats past the Hornets in District 5-5A on Tuesday night.

After Azle took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second, Aledo scored seven in the top of the third. The first six batters reached base. A hard grounder from Texas Ray gave Aledo a 2-1 lead. Presley Hull and Kayleigh Smith drove in back-to-back runs to make it 6-1.

Azle cut the lead to 7-4 a half inning later.

Kaylee Parrish hit a two-run triple to make it a three-run game.

Aledo added one in the fourth on a solo homer from Madysen Boutwell. Maddy Jarvis and Marissa Powell led off the sixth with a single and walk and both scored on a Boutwell single.

Boswell 1, Haltom 0

Alli Stidham threw a no-hitter and struck out 16 batters, and Layla David drove in Santrea Armstead in the Pioneers’ District 3-6A win over the Buffalos.

Boswell remains unbeaten in district.

Stidham only needed 75 pitches with 62 going for strikes. It’s Stidham’s 14th game of the season with double digit strikeouts, including her sixth straight.

Lindsey Oliver pitched well for Haltom, allowing five hits and striking out 14 in seven innings.

Eaton 6, Keller Central 2

Sarah Marr struck out seven batters in 5 2/3 innings as the Eagles got past the Chargers in District 4-6A on Tuesday.

Marr allowed three hits.

Eaton scored two runs in the first on Athena Huguley’s two-run single to right. Central cut it to 2-1 in the second on a bases-loaded walk and tied it in the fourth.

Raylee Huse’s bunt single scored a run in the bottom of the fourth to give Eaton a 3-2 lead. Rian Coon made it 5-2 with a two-run triple to center.

Brianna McFaddin went 1 for 2 with two walks and three stolen bases for Central.

Baseball

Godley 5, Alvarado 1

The Wildcats broke open a 2-1 game with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to beat the Indians in District 11-4A on Tuesday. Godley tied up the season series after Alvarado won an earlier district game, 2-1.

Godley scored in the third on a bases-loaded walk and in the fourth on an Alvarado error. The Indians got one back in the top of the sixth on an RBI single by Ricardo Duran.

But Godley put its first three batters on in the bottom of the inning. The Wildcats led 3-1 on a passed ball and Kole Allen drove in a run with a sac fly to right.

Peyton Thomas followed with another RBI sac fly for the 5-1 lead.

Hunter Lewis allowed four hits in seven innings for Godley with three strikeouts.

Justin Northwest 9, Denton 8

The Texans erased an 8-3 deficit with five runs in the top of the sixth and the go-ahead run in the seventh to beat the Broncos in District 6-5A on Tuesday night.

Shannon Danicki led off the seventh with a single to left field and after Denton got two outs, Northwest’s Andrew Grier singled to center to drive home Danicki for a 9-8 lead.

Denton got the tying run to second before Nick Fox fouled out.

Tyran Magee cleared the bases with a double to center to give Northwest a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Denton got back two in the first, four in the third and two in the fourth to grab a 8-3 lead.

Carter Rasmussen homered to pull the Texans within 8-5. Glynn Wilson hit a two-run single to left to make it 8-7 and Vincent Zarate’s sacrifice tied it at 8-8.

Keller 19, Fossil Ridge 3

The Indians scored seven runs in the top of the first inning and the rout was on during a District 4-6A game with the Panthers on Tuesday.

Thirteen Keller players got a hit with three coming from Fisher Polydoroff and Ty Zahradnik. Six players had multiple RBI with three by Polydoroff, who went 3 for 4 with a triple, homer and three runs scored.

Zahradnik, Zach Abell, Kevin Hammond, Charlie Tomlinson and Aiden Howard drove in a pair of runs each.

Keever Vincent didn’t allow a hit in three innings and struck out eight batters. Keller also scored seven runs in the fourth.
