Boys Basketball Preview: Top 20 basketball players to watch in the Fort Worth-area
The Texas high school boys basketball season is underway and this year’s group is just as talented as any other. The Fort Worth-area is loaded with sharp shooters, defenders and more.
The next four months are going to be fun as teams begin their quest for San Antonio.

1. Finley Bizjack
Point Guard, Jr., Byron Nelson
The Star-Telegram co-offensive player of the year helped lead the Bobcats to the regional tournament and averaged 21 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.
Bizjack was district co-MVP and a two-time all-state pick.
2. Jourdyn Grandberry
Guard, Sr., Richland
The Texas A&M Corpus Christi signee was voted district MVP and all-region after averaging 15.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game.
3. Alex Bossinakis
Point Guard, Sr., Fort Worth Christian
The Cardinals reached the TAPPS 5A state championship game and were led by Bossinakis, who made the all-area team.
He averaged 17.3 points, 5.7 assists and 4 rebounds per game and was named to the state all-tournament team.
4. Jared Washington
Point Guard, Sr., Mansfield Timberview
Washington averaged 17 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals per game last season for the Wolves, that reached the regional tournament.
Washington was all-state and District 8-5A MVP.
5. Chendall Weaver
Guard/Forward, Sr., Mansfield Timberview
Weaver and Washington made a dynamic 1-2 punch for the Wolves, who went 22-4 last season.
The 8-5A Defensive MVP averaged 16 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3 steals per game.
6. Quion Williams
Forward, Sr., Mansfield Legacy
Williams was district newcomer of the year for the Broncos after averaging 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.
Williams was all-region and Star-Telegram newcomer of the year.
7. Chase Henderson
Guard, Sr., Birdville
Henderson averaged 18 points and was voted district offensive MVP for the Hawks last season.
8. Isaiah Manning
Forward/Center, Jr., Mansfield Legacy
Manning stands 6-7 and 200 pounds, and is a 4-star recruit according to 247Sports. He has 8 offers, including from Oklahoma State, TCU and Texas A&M.
9. Blake Bahr
Guard, Sr., Keller
Bahr averaged 15 points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2 steals per game for the Indians. Bahr was voted all-area and district first team.
10. BJ Williams
Guard, Sr., Brewer
Williams was district MVP for the district champion Brewer Bears. He averaged 17.4 points, 4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.6 steals per game.
11. Josh Davis
Guard, Sr., Grapevine Faith
Davis helped the Lions to the state semifinals. He averaged 16.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. He made 75 3-pointers.
12. Mason Jones
Forward, Sr., Keller Central
Jones averaged 20 points per game last season for the Chargers and has already scored 20 points in each of the first two games this season.
13. Nathan Jones
Forward/Center, Sr., Brock
Jones is committed to play football at Minnesota. If he doesn’t decide to enroll early, Jones will play a major role for the Eagles basketball team.
Jones was all-area and all-state after averaging 19 points, 10 rebounds and shooting 65% from the field. He was voted district MVP.
14. Daniel Sohn
Forward, Sr., Aledo
The 6-6 lefty led the Bearcats to 20 wins last season and was voted district offensive MVP.
15. Braxton Bosher
Guard/Forward, Sr., Peaster
Bosher was named to the all-state team. He averaged 22 points and shot 43% from downtown.
16. Justin McNelkan
Forward, Sr., Arlington Grace Prep
McNelkan averaged 15.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.8 steals per game for the Lions. McNelkan made 148 field goals and shot 50%.
17. Grant Rein
Point Guard, Jr., Grapevine Faith
Rein made an area-leading 98 threes last season for the Lions and shot 43%. He scored 16.3 points per game. Rein begins the season on the injury list with hip surgery.
18. Koreyan Davis
Forward, Soph., North Crowley
The 6-4 Davis helped the Panthers to another district championship last season and was voted district newcomer of the year.
19. Kelton Williams
Guard/Forward, Jr., Midlothian
Williams was voted district sophomore MVP last season for the Panthers. He averaged 12.3 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals per game.
20. Parker Hannah
Guard, Jr., Keller
The District 4-6A Newcomer of the Year averaged 11.2 points and 2.3 assists per game game last season for the Indians.
