Girls Basketball Preview: Top 20 basketball players to watch in the Fort Worth-area
The Texas high school girls basketball season is underway and this year’s group is just as talented as any other. The Fort Worth-area is loaded with sharp shooters, defenders and more.
The next four months are going to be fun as teams begin their quest for San Antonio.

1. Cambridge Mathews
Point Guard, Sr., Keller
The reigning Star-Telegram player of the year was district MVP and an all-state pick for the district champion Keller Indians. Committed to Tulsa, Mathews averaged 17 points, 3 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 3 steals per game.
She also knocked down 58 3-pointers and has been one of the premier guards for the past two seasons.
2. Nyanna Robertson
Point Guard, Sr., Boswell
A 2-time Star-Telegram offensive player of the year, Robertson led the Pioneers to playoffs last season when she averaged 21 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.2 steals and 2.7 assists per game.
She was selected all-state by both the TGCA and TABC.
3. Savannah Catalon
Point Guard, Jr., Mansfield Legacy
Catalon has been the top player in Mansfield for the past two seasons, which included district MVP last year and the Star-Telegram newcomer of the year as a freshman.
Last season for the Broncos, Catalon averaged 17 points, 8 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists.
4. Jade Masogayo
Forward/Center, Sr., Keller Fossil Ridge
One of the taller players in the area, Masogayo is a rebounding machine. Last season, the Missouri State commit averaged 15 rebounds, including 9 on the defensive end.
She also averaged 4.5 blocks and was named defensive MVP by both the district and Star-Telegram.
5. Payton Hull
Guard, Jr., Peaster
One of the top scorers in all of the metroplex, Hull averaged an area-leading 27 points per game for the Greyhounds while added 6 rebounds and 6 steals.
She was co-MVP of her district and named a 2-time all-state player.
6. Desiree Wooten
Point Guard, Sr., Mansfield Timberview
The Star-Telegram player of the year in 2020, Wooten makes her return to the court after missing the season last year with an injury. Wooten can get after it on both ends of the court with her spark and energy for the Wolves.
During the 2019-20 season, the UNT commit averaged 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists, knocked down a whopping 90 3-point attempts.
7. Camryn Tade
Guard, Jr., Southlake Carroll
A first-team all-area selection, Tade was a proven leader for a Dragons’ program that reached the regional semifinals last season. She averaged 15 points and 6 rebounds, and was named district offensive MVP.
Tade is already off to a hot start with a career-high 36 points in Carroll’s season opener.
8. Reagan Jackson
Guard, Jr., Kennedale
The district MVP averaged 20.5 points and 4.6 assists last season and was named to the all-area team.
9. Suni Davis
Guard, Sr., Saginaw
The leader for the Rough Riders, Davis averaged nearly 20 points per game along with 4 rebounds and 4.7 steals, nad was name district offensive MVP.
10. Brooklyn Bosher
Guard, Jr., Peaster
Peaster has a dynamic 1-2 punch with Hull and Bosher on the court. Bosher was co-MVP for the district, all-state and all-region after averaging 21 points and shooting 83% from the line.
11. Jadyn Fife
Forward, Sr., Argyle Liberty Christian
The Colorado State commit was the Warriors’ leading scoring and helped the team to a district title and 18-4 record last season.
12. Hallie Rhodes
Forward/Center, Sr., LD Bell
The district co-offensive MVP finished last season with 15 points and 5 rebounds per game, and was named to both the all-state team and all-area team.
13. Kylie Marshall
Guard, Jr., Mansfield Lake Ridge
The 5-11 junior averaged over 16 points per game while playing in one of the toughest district in the state. She also averaged 6.3 rebounds and shot 81% from the line.
14. KJ Walker
Point Guard, Sr., Keller Timber Creek
Another all-area player from 2019-20 makes her return to the court as Walker is back from an injury that sidelined her last season.
During 2019-20, Walker averaged nearly 17 points per game and was named first-team all-district.
15. Emi Steele
Forward, Jr., Colleyville Heritage
The 6-foot Panther is in her third varsity season and had an outstanding sophomore campaign leading Heritage with 14 points and 7 rebounds per game. She has several D1 college offers.
16. Jayden Rhodes
Forward/Center, Sr., LD Bell
Along side her twin sister, Jayden Rhodes averaged over 13 points and nearly 7 rebounds per game. She was named district first-team and TGCA all-state.
17. Kamdyn Graves
Forward/Center, Sr., Joshua
A double-double machine, Graves averaged 13.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game last season for the Owls.
18. Sirviva Legions
Guard, Sr., Mansfield Legacy
Legions is the defensive stopper for the Broncos with her speed and strong IQ for the game.
19. Samantha Watson
Guard, Sr., Nolan Catholic
Watson took her game to another level last season for the Vikings and became one of the players to watch in this area. She was voted district offensive MVP and second team all-state.
Watson is committed to Ouachita Baptist.
20. Mimi Margiotta
Guard, Sr., Grapevine
Margiotta was named to the TABC all-region after averaged 12.6 points per game for the Mustangs. She was among the DFW leaders with 76 made 3-point attempts.
